Participants and Focus

Built on the success of previous conferences in this series, LBS 2026 is intended for scholars, researchers, digital industry and market practitioners, and students from different disciplinary backgrounds, including science, engineering, and the humanities whose work is either focused on or relevant to location based services (LBS). The conference will offer a common platform for colleagues from diverse disciplines and practices where they can meet, interact and exchange knowledge, experiences, plans and ideas on how LBS can be improved and how it will influence both science and society.

We welcome proposals for new sessions not covered by the above topics.

Submissions

We invite the following types of contributions:

  • Full papers – to present significant scientific results. Full papers will be double-blind peer-reviewed. High-quality submissions will be accepted for presentation at the conference and are intended for publication in the Journal of Location Based Services published by Taylor & Francis, or recommended to other SCI-indexed journals such as Satellite Navigation. Manuscripts must describe original work that has neither been published before nor is currently under review elsewhere. Papers should be written in English according to the Word or LaTeX template, and should not exceed 30 pages (including title, figures, and references). Full papers must be submitted in PDF format through the ConfTool website by 10 June 202624 June 202615 July 2026. The full paper submissions are qualified to win travel grants up to 500 Euros.

Full paper submissions are anonymized:
Do not include any information that could reveal your identity. The title section of your manuscript should not contain any author names, email addresses, or affiliation. In the body of your submission, eliminate all direct references to your own previous work, i.e., you must discuss your own previous work as if it had been written by other authors. Please do not disproportionately cite your own previous work.

  • Work in progress – to present ongoing work. Work-in-progress submissions should include succinct and sufficient information about research objectives, significance, methodology, and preliminary or expected findings. If accepted after review by the Programme Committee, authors will be invited to give either an oral or a poster presentation at the conference. Your work-in-progress paper will be published in the online proceedings of the conference (with a DOI). Work-in-progress papers (up to 5 pages, including title, figures, and references) must be written in English using the LBS 2026 Word or LaTeX template, and submitted in PDF format through the ConfTool website by 1 July 2026 15 July 2026.

Please note that when submitting your contribution through the ConfTool website, you should indicate the submission category: Full paper or Work in progress.

  • Late breaking work – If you are interested in presenting your recent research results, ongoing work, or emerging ideas that have not yet been fully developed or published, please submit a summary (300–600 words) of the paper to lansong_jiang@seu.edu.cn by 1 September 2026. Submissions should clearly describe the motivation, methodology, and main contributions of the work. Authors are encouraged to include references or links to supporting materials, if available.
  • Published-article track– If you are interested in presenting your recent full paper published during the years 2024-2026 in a peer-reviewed journal or conference proceedings, please submit a summary (300-600 words) of the paper to lansong_jiang@seu.edu.cn by 1 September 2026. Submissions should include a citation with a link to the published article.

Note：Late-breaking work and published-article track submissions will be reviewed by the Organising Committee. If accepted, authors will be invited to give either an oral or a poster presentation at the conference. Outstanding papers will be recommended to the Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science (JGGS), the official English-language journal of Acta Geodaetica et Cartographica Sinica. In addition, the best papers will be awarded a travel grant of up to 500 Euros.
